~ The Bianchi-Malvolios ~
The Bianchi-Malvolios consist of two different families: the Bianchi family and the Malvolio family. Members include Giulia and Antonello Malvolio and their daughter Bianca, Valentina and Tomas Bianchi and their son Valentin, and Valentin and Bianca's children: Sofia, Matias, Machiavelli, and Lucia.
The Grandparents
Giulia, Antonello, Valentina, and Tomas were all apart of the generation that survived the aftermath of the Great Fall. Antonello and Valentina were toddlers when the Great Fall took place, and Giulia and Tomas were born a year or so after it occured; the four of them grew up very close to one another, witnessing the violence and confusion that ravaged Gunsmoke upon humanity's sudden drop onto the desert planet. They all remained strong together despite all the burdens taking place- so then, it is unsurprising that they grew up and paired off into relationships.
The Bianchi's are all Argentinian in descent; the Malvolio's are mostly Italian.
Giula was quiet but very bright: she was a serious woman who didn't often speak, but when she did, the others listened on account of the fact that Giulia was brilliant and had great insight on people.
Antonello had a very sharp tongue. He knew how to talk to people to get what he wanted, something that was extremely useful in the climate they grew up in, which is likely why he developed it.
Valentina was a lot more genuinely personable than the rest. She was a people person who relied on her likability to get favors from people; she and Antonello were the most talkative of the group.
Tomas had a shyer personality than all of them. While Giulia was simply quiet, Tomas was genuinely shy and didn't like talking to others. He was scared of most people and preferred to let others do the talking for him.
Both families are survived through their children and grandchildren, whom they live and remain with until their deaths. Valentina died first, followed by Antonello, Tomas, then Giulia.
The Next Generation
Valentin and Bianca are both only-children. The two met because the two families were so closely intertwined with one another, leading both children to grow up together. In their early adulthood, the two eloped and began having children. Valentin became the main provider of the household, with Bianca focusing on upkeeping the increasingly large family: she focused on caring for their parents while Valentin worked multiple jobs to keep them all afloat. This was to the detriment of his relationship with his children- but in his mind, at least they were fed and cared for.
Bianca was a lot like Valentina, in that she was a rather personable person. Though, she gives more focus on the service aspect of that rather than the talkative portions: Valentina preferred to simply converse while Bianca focuses more on what she can do for people. This leads to her getting progressively more spread-thin as time progresses and their family grows.
Valentin is a bit complicated: he initially shared Bianca's nack for people, with a focus on making people laugh: he was a comedian, which is what initially stole Bianca's heart. However, as the years passed by and he devoted himself fully to work, he has become a lot more silent. He's a lot quieter and more serious these days, and stubborn as all can be.
The Current Generation
Valentin and Bianca had four children. In birth order, they are Sofia, Matias, Machiavelli, and Lucia.
Sofia Bianchi-Malvolio is the oldest; there is about a ten-year age gap between her and Matias. Between Bianca's strain to run everything and Valentin's absence due to work, Sofia was often the one in charge of taking care of her younger siblings. She grew up acting as the third parent, making sure her siblings were taken care of. This has led to her younger three siblings having a much better relationship with her versus the parents. Whenever they have a problem with the parents, they come to Sofia. Sofia is also the peacemaker of the family. When there are fights (most commonly between Matias and the parents), she tries to establish peace between both parties. Unfortunately, she seems to have developed her mother's issue with being spread-thin. Sofia doesn't travel, preferring to remain in town with her family. The few times she does travel it is only to visit Matias when he eventually moves: she remains close with his family. Sofia also has a better relationship with both Bianca and Valentin than any of the other children do.
Matias Bianchi is the second child; he was born ten years after Sofia, and is about 3 years older than Machiavelli. Matias grew up with a stubborn, fiery streak: he inherited the Bianchi stubbornness, and he butts-heads with both Bianca and especially Valentin on a regular basis. Due to this, he is closer with Sofia than any of his family, though he is at least personable with his younger siblings and the grandparents. More specifically Giulia. When he is old enough, he moves to the nearest town and remains there, where he raises a few children of his own. Sofia and Lucia are the only ones who visit, since Matias wishes to keep his relationship with them even if he will not see his parents.
Machiavelli Malvolio is the third child; he is three years older than Lucia. Vel is the true middle child, in that the age gap between them and Sofia was large enough the the latter three children felt like a separate group, making Vel the middle of them. In this position, Machiavelli often wound up ignored- Matias was always fighting, Sofia was trying her best, Lucia was being babied, the grandparents started dying around this time, and the parents were always busy- so with all of that, Vel didn't hardly get much attention. This led to him doing a lot on his own, entertaining himself and not really growing close to any member of his family. He had an okay relationship with Bianca, no relationship with Valentin, and his best relationship was with Sofia. Because of this, Vel only took his mother's last name, and when he eventually left, he kept no contact with any member of the family. This was worsened by his later life experiences. For a very long time though, none of the family ever heard from him nor knew what happened to him.
Lucia Bianchi is the youngest of the family and is subsequently the baby. When she was born, some of the financial burden had started to ease since the grandparents began dying off, leaving Bianca and Valentin with a little more time than they previously had with the other kids. They babied Lucia when they had the time, even more so once she came out as trans. Lucia, however, did not enjoy this, as it often led to tensions between her and Matias- though Matias attributes most of her lack of conflict with the fact that he fought against the parents so hard to "fix things". The siblings do love Lucia, even if they're frustrated by the difference in how she's treated.
Valentin and Bianca combined their last names, which is why the children each have different ones: Sofia took the combined one- indicative of her role as a peacemaker- Matias and Lucia both took Valentin's because it was easier and more traditional, and Machiavelli only took Bianca's since he didn't really have a relationship with Valentin.
The town the family grew up in was a Spanish-speaking town, which was not a problem for the Bianchi's. The Malvolio's learned Spanish, but they also mostly spoke Italian with one another, leading to this current generation being fluent in both languages. Matias and Lucia only speak these two languages, Machiavelli is fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English, and Sofia knows Italian, Spanish, and is fluent enough in English to get by, though its not near as good as Vel's.
